New list: Top 25 best small towns in the U.S. | Local News - Home

Lebanon, one of the Top best small towns in the U.S. With 2 major highways
intersecting bringing people from Hartford Connecticut and Boston
Massachusetts in 2 hours The Upper Valley has it all. Major employers
(Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital), low unemployment, beautiful recreation
areas, skiing, lakes, Major Academia (Dartmouth College) and a peaceful
lifestyle. I have made N.H my home for the past 33 years. After just
having to travel to Clifornia to visit family I have been reminded why.
Traffic, Worry about locking your doors all the time, worry about being in
the wrong section of town, just worry all the time by my sister and her
family. I have to say I don't worry about those things in New Hampshire.
Oh yes New Hampshire has beautiful blue ski, and the incredibly green
foliage.
I am not surprised that

Lebanon NH got #1

I also think the New Hampshire real estate market is much more stable than
other market. Questions about your market just ask I will send you details
about how your town is doing in either NH or VT. Deb@uvmaxre.com

Ready to Build your home, Croydon is the town to think about after 4th Grade School choice even private

Very interesting thing happening in Croydon last year after of years of being in an area agreement with Newport, Croydon decided to be a school choice town.  What is different about Croydon is they will even pay tuition to a private school up to the town agreed limit each year.  For a parent this can add up to an excellent education for your individual child.  I have two lots listed for sale over looking Spectacle Pond, each 5 acres with road frontage on Barden Road and Route 10.  Ideal for a full walk out lower level to finish, either lot $43,000.  Could be subdivide according to current zoning.  From Route 10 the land is flat for at least 120  then slopes uphill to Barden Road, which would be a great spot to build for local view like the ones you see.

4 Foster Place Claremont NH History

There really is a lot of history in Claremont.  At the turn of the Century the area was one of the largest Woolen Mill areas in the country.  The stately homes that line the street of both Claremont and Newport are witness to that fact.  The house I just listed is full of history waiting for its new owners.  The present owners have done some interesting research on the property worth taking a look.  This would be a great family compound.

Here are some informative links to Joseph Steinfield and his book “Claremont Boy”.  A signed copy of the book was left in the dining room.

Other Information:

The house was built turn of the century by Thomas Fry.  The three houses were owned by three sisters whose father had given them the land; the Fosters, Freemans and Frys.  The Steinfields purchased the home from the Fry’s.

Mr. Steinfield wrote the attached article for the Manchester Union Leader which I think you will find very amusing.  The street used to be called Edgewood Circle before we had to change the name when the city went to 911 upgrade.  The name Foster was chosen because Mr. Foster (brown house) had done a lot for the city.
